Roadie (1980)

RoadieThere is a lot of silly rubbish about this film scattered all over the Internet. Most of the time when I read a review of "Roadie" I wonder if the critic even bothered to see the film before they wrote about it (see above). Unlike most other critics, I have seen Roadie, and I promise--with certain reservations--that it is a very funny and very entertaining movie.

As an older man with a nervous disposition who has enough trouble sitting through many new movies once, The ultimate tribute I can give this great "on the road" rock'n'roll saga is that I watched it numerous times when it was on cable in 1981. Since then, I have watched it several dozens of times on VHS, and now that it's on DVD, I have watched it several times again. You can put a lot of mileage on this road movie. In a day when you build whole relationship with and around movies in your personal collection, that kind of stamina in a movie is critical.

The film has a rock'n'roll backdrop--a backdrop we rarely see from the workingman's eye the way we do here. There are no star turns in the film, at least none in the late 1970's early 1980's tradition. Rock is shown as hard work, and generally the product of blue collar hands (a view I agree with). The movie gives us what amounts to real-world views of several 70's favorites (Meatloaf, Alice Cooper, Blondie, etc.).

The movie has a great premise, the howling self-reliant "Everything Works If You Let It" theme. It also enjoys a background soundtrack that fires on all twelve cylinders. But what keeps me watching the film is that it is really funny in an honest, straight-forward way that we have enjoyed far too seldom since Hollywood started grinding out its cookie-cutter "farces" in the wake of "Airplane." The dual surprises of the film are the really solid performances put in by Alice Cooper and Meatloaf in their respective roles as rock star and roadie. I am unqualified in my admiration of this movie, but I will tightly qualify the people to whom I would suggest the film. This is a "cult" movie in the most real sense of the word and anyone who is made nervous by rock music, farce that is outside of the "Scary Movie"/"Naked Gun" mainstream, or three-hundred pound leading men (Meatloaf) should avoid this movie at all costs. Also, there is a certain good ol' boy mentality at work here that will not play for some parts of the audience. But to the core audience of the film, these are not qualifications, they are recommendations. The thing I am saddest about is that the movie's soundtrack is no longer available. The soundtrack was worth having simply for the long and messy "Brainlock" which plays during one of the few really funny car chases in the history of film.

Of course Meatloaf is the bomb, and you want to believe in the reality of his character, the astoundingly competent Travis W. Redfish. Sadly, there is no Redfish in the real world, but you'll wish there was, and there probably should be.

Art Carney plays Daddy Redfish, and steals every scene in which he appears. Alice Cooper plays himself (as always) and is great. In fact, all the walk-ons and cameos are amazing.

But the amazing presence in the film is Kaki Hunter's portrayal of Lola Bouillabaisse. The Lola character is a train wreck, a disaster area, a four alarm fire. She is our worst nightmare on a blind date, but the screenplay needs her to be that disaster. If Lola had been played by a different kind of female, or had she been played as an attractive girl, the part, and probably the film would have been ruined. Hunter actually holds her own against her mighty co-stars in the film. She is amazing.

Note: a movie that is equally funny and from the same time period, and sharing roughly the same theme is Roger Corman's "Rock and Roll High School."

Whoa-boy. ROADIE isn't a five-star flick by any stretch of the imagination (save that of starry-eyed fan-atics, who're no doubt clicking No with some vehemence right about now). Every one of the three stars are worthy, however, and I snapped up this DVD with all haste because the film IS a campy, rollicking, fun little tale. Meat Loaf is a charmer as Travis W. Redfish, cuddly and sweet, inventive and wise, a memorable character in even his head-butting, brain-locking, ox-like other side. Kaki Hunter is less memorable as Lola Bouilliabase, though often just as sweetly naive as anyone who's had a brush with fan obsession (y'all CAN click Yes later on and change your vote, if you didn't know). Completing the Redfish clan, Art Carney is a hoot and Rhonda Bates purely delightful. Watch for Kurkwood Smith in a bit part.

A no-frills DVD package. The feature cleaned up nicely, but the original trailer shows wear. The Dolby 5.1 audio was a surprise, though, and plays well front and back.

ROADIE is a guilty pleasure, but such camp was fun sharing with unsuspecting friends -we laughed 'til we cried. Chair dancing, the distinctive rattle of a beer truck, narcs snorting Tide. Some odd remembrances, too, of the brouhaha over cancelling concerts for energy conservation, often believed an excuse for censorship. Oddly enough, there's little or no swearing in ROADIE; Lola's quest for deflowering and a little substance abuse (and perhaps the close-up of Alice Cooper's codpiece) earned the PG rating.

"Everything works if you let it," a worthy sentiment.

This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. A great cast: Meatloaf, Khaki Hunter, Art Carney, Jos Spano, Alice Cooper, Hank Williams Jr., Roy Orbison, Don Cornelius, etc. Great musical performances by Blondie, duet of Hank Jr. & Roy, Blondie, Asleep At The Wheel. Some of the greatest lines of all time. Story gets a little trippy but makes sense and one of the all-time strangest endings. If you are a 70s rock and roll fan, this is the movie for you.

From the ambulatory phone booth to a candlelight dinner with The Snake, this just tickled my funny bone. Art Carney was great, and I loved Meat Loaf as the star-crossed lover. Yes, it's cheap, yes, it's campy, but I have been looking for the damn thing for like 20 years, and I am SO happy they finally re-released it. For years all I had was the soundtrack, which is quite goodlook at all the musicians in the darn movie! Ooohhh, I'm drivin' my life away....

For it's time, Roadie is a great movie in itself. it's funny, sexy, and filled with alot of classic rock. Great cammeo's by Hank Williams Jr. and Roy Orbison to name a couple. Jr. sings Outlaw Women at a bar Redfish (Meat Loaf) set's up at.

The story is Hank Williams Jr.'s road crew breaks down on the side of a Texas road. A pretty woman hitching a ride steps out and catch's Redfish's eye. Two numb skulls diving the truck has no clue what's wrong. When Redfish offers to help, Lola (the pretty woman) talks him in to helping set up Hank Willims Jr. Soon after that Redfish becomes the best at what he does or what he has became a (roadie) but all Redfish is after is Lola and all Lola is ater is Alice Cooper.

I sew this movie on T.V. a long time ago and liked it alot and I was wantting to see it again. Still a great movie

Wild Child

Wild ChildThis film is full of cheesy goodness. If you are looking for a young chick flick with with a dash of romance, this one is a great choice.

This movie has been done before... A LOT. What sets this film apart is the stellar cast. It is the last movie made by Natasha Richardson and casting Alex Pettyfer as the love interest doesn't hurt. The lead is played by Emma Roberts (the daughter of actor Eric Roberts and Julia Robert's niece), who obviously has taken some pointers from family members. She shines in this role as a snotty rich kid who transforms into the young woman she was meant to be. She got caught up in the fast lane of California living after her mother passed and when her dad has had enough, she gets carted off to her mom's old boarding school in England! There is an obvious clash of cultures as she has to find her way in a foreign school with it's own caste system. Enter the mean girls and a handsome son of a headmistress and there's your plot. You know how it ends but getting there is pure fun!

We all know what is going to happen but isn't that half the reason we watch this kind of movie? As a viewer, you are not looking at this dvd as an option and thinking -I want to watch award winning cinema! You know you are getting a lighthearted teen romp. You'll discover a young woman finding herself, real friends and love as she searches for meaning in her life. The belief that anyone can be transformed is a powerful message even if it is told in silly ways. So sit back, grab a bowl of popcorn with extra butter and enjoy a fun movie.

I saw this movie when I was in Britain last summer. Emma's character wasn't as wild as the title may suggest but there were a lot unexpected twists in this movie that made it more than your regular romcom. I highly recommend this movie and I will definitely buy this.

I had my doubts about this movie, but I knew I had to buy it after watching only 20 minutes. I found the portrayal of American California girls very interesting. I am from Indiana, and I admit, several things that Poppy (the main character) and her friends did line up with prejudices that I've developed through American media. So, seeing that was amusing, but made me wonder if Europeans thought all Americans acted that way (because we do not). I know not all Californians do, either.

I could not stop laughing, and these were laughs, not chuckles. I LOVED seeing Poppy's hand sanitizer. I had bought my own bottle a few days before watching the movie.

There was not a single character that I did not like. Though, Alex Pettyfer's hair could be improved. ;) I like his style in "I Am Number 4" better, but I digress. The actors were beyond amazing, and consequently, I loved the characters. I loved their hair, accents, clothes, facial expressions, everything. The movie was a true delight, and I'm planning to watch it with my Mom. ^_^

ALSO: I am a Christian, and I personally loved the way the headmistress handled Poppy's case. Too many times in Church we encounter wild child Poppys, and we condemn them. We yell at them, order them to clean their act up, show disgust to them, etcetera. Then, we usually chase them out of the Church because they're just too wild. I think Christians should watch this movie because of the valuable lesson in it: Call out the good in people.

Poppy acted the way she did because she was hurting inside. She missed her mother. Many times in real life, people commit negative, hurtful deeds because they are hurting inside. As Christians, we are called to do what Christ did, which was HEAL them and NEVER condemn them. If you heal the wound, the behavior changes automatically. But if you try to "fix" behavior without healing the wound, well, that is as silly as trying to "fix" the speakers without turning the radio to an actual radio station. The behavior is not the problem. It's the manifestation of the problem.

Mystic Pizza (1988)

Mystic PizzaI first saw this movie after seeing Pretty Woman in the theater back in 1990, I instantly became a Julia fan. This is great movie with a great cast, the only thing I don't like about the DVD is it doesn't have the original cover/poster that has most of the cast on it. I think it's a better cover because this isn't just a Julia movie, and I know she would say the same.

Julia stars as Daisy, a girl who's never been able to live up to her mothers expectations so she only lives for herself, and is happy with it, until a rich young boy named Charles shows up at the local pool hall. He instantly falls for her, but Daisy is afraid that he is just using her to get back at his snobbish parents. "Bring home your poor Portuguese girlfriend, shake up the family a little bit." But Charlie isn't like that, and it isn't until Daisy discovers more about herself that she realizes this. Then there's her younger sister Kat(Annabeth Gish), whom her mother is so proud of because she will be attending Yale. Kat has never been in love and ends up falling for the married father of the young girl she babysits for; in this short time she gets to expierience the joys of love and the pain of being heartbroken when his wife returns.

Their friend Jo (Lili Taylor) is another story altogether. She loves her boyfriend Bill (Vincent Denofrio), a local fisherman, but every time she tries to walk down the isle she pictures herself fat and ugly with all these kids hanging around and ends up passing out.

In the end they all pass major milestones that come with life, and the movie ends with the girls looking into the stars. This wasn't a starting point for Annabeth Gish whom had already appeared in many movies, but was a bit of a launching pad for Julia who dyed her hair black with mouse just to audition for the role (and walked home in the rain ruining her blouse). This was only her third feature film, and she seems to grow in this role. It's no surprise she received an Oscar nomination for her next role in "Steel Magnolias."

Since Matt Damon has become a household name, I've seen this movie mentioned some places as starring him as well as the main actors, but I must advise that if you're renting it JUST for Matt, you're in for a big disappointment. Matt is only in one scene and only utters the lines "Mom, do you want my green stuff." So, it really isn't HIS film, but he is in it.

What makes the DVD special is being able to see the film's actual trailer and watch the movie in widescreen.

Julia has a line at the beginning of the film that kind of makes me smile:

"Don't worry about me, I'm not going to be slinging pizza for the rest of my life." Words that ring so true, if only she knew then the big star she would be.

It's hard to believe that this little 1988 film has endured in popularity for so long. It is a simple story of three 'sisters' in the small fishing village of Mystic, CT who have just graduated highschool, work as waitress in the town Mystic Pizza parlor, and face decisions about the future of their lives. There are three less than fairytale romances with three male characters of varying potential as partners and it is the 'coming of age' in a small Portuguese clan that sparks the tenderness and the sadness of this story written by Amy Holden Jones and directed by Donald Petrie.

One of the most interesting aspects of this low budget film is how it catapulted Julia Roberts and Matt Damon (who plays such a bit part he nearly goes unnoticed) to fame, reinforced the careers of fine character actors Conchata Ferrell, Lili Taylor and Vincent D'Onofrio while pushing the then promising Annabeth Gish, William R. Moses and Adam Storke over into TV land roles.

The film is a bit of nostalgia for a better time, has charm and innocence, and will always be one of those movies everyone who is a film collector will keep in their library for times when a return to simple little movies just makes you feel good. Grady Harp, January 06

Watched the 1988 movie "Mystic Pizza" today. It was one of the first movies for the female leads Julia Roberts , Annabeth Gish (native of Cedar Falls, Iowa), and Lili Taylor. Interestingly, Gish's name appears before Roberts in the credits at the end. Gish has gone on to a productive career, mostly in television, Taylor has moved into a career in more independent, quirky movies while Roberts has gone on to...well, you know.

I read Roger Ebert's review and he gave the movie 3 1/2 starts (out of 4) when it came out. I wouldn't rate it that high (maybe 2 1/2 or 3 out of 4), but the movie has kind of a comfortable feeling to it and gets better as it goes along. You don't see many movies about work & work environments these days and I think the scenes in the Mystic Pizza Parlor are pretty good. The romantic storylines are pretty standard and as Ebert says, "The movie isn't really about three girls in love; it's about three girls discovering what their standards for love are going to be." All-in-all I liked the movie. Oh, and watch carefully for Matt Damon in his big-screen debut!

There's a line from American Pie in which one of the young guys declares, "Women are like fine wine. They just get better with age." So true. All of the women in this movie are living proof of that, especially Annabeth Gish, who went from being merely girl-next-door pretty in Mystic Pizza, to the mature goddess we have seen on the X-Files.

Mystic Pizza is very much an ensemble movie, with no one person standing out above the rest. A very strong female cast is counterpointed by some solid male performances, such as that of the always superb Vince D'Onofrio also check out The Cell, with Jennifer Lopez.

Beautifully filmed in Conn. New England, the movie is also a visual delight, and captures the reassuring simplicity of life in an Atlantic fishing community. I love Nova Scotia and Maine for the same reason. The original Mystic Pizza restaurant is still going strong and their website is well worth a visit.

All in all, a very sweet movie about real people and real family situations, and it remains one of my favorite movies of all time. I literally never tire of this modern classic. My only quibble is that the last spoken line is disturbingly unimaginative and anti-climactic. After crafting such a superb screenplay, the writers just seemed to run out of inspiration at the last hurdle. As Mr. Spock would say, "Fascinating."

Good but by no means great. I am not really a Julia Roberts Fan and it was the fact that this is one of Vincent D'Onofrio's first films that made me watch it. Early on the film drags but about halfway through I began to find it absorbing. My plroblem in the early part was that the three women characters seemed like such airheads that I really did not care what happened to them. I give all three actresses credit for giving performances that kept me fairly interested until the mid-part of the film. There are two surprises at the end of the film that really made me glad I stuck with it. This really is a "Girl Movie" and the men in it are mostly wasted. Especially Mr. D'Onofrio. None the less it is worth watching.

Schoolgirl Hitchhikers (1973)

Schoolgirl HitchhikersRedemption Films should be lauded in bringing the films of French Director Jean Rollin to American audiences and now with his passing last year ,his catalog of films can be viewed and appreciated by lovers of Euro and erotic cinema. During his Vampire film years , he made a number of sexy, erotic films under the pseudonym of Michel Gentil and took his pairing of female heroines into different sexy encounters. This film 'SCHOOLGIRL HITCHHIKERS' was the first and stars the beautiful Joelle Couer who would also star in three other films of his and then disappeared from the screen in the late seventies. The film resembles a fairy tale with a 'Goldilocks and the three Bears' feel and then becomes a lethal jewel heist caper eventually succumbing to cartoon like shootouts and chases intermixed with soft core sexual encounters by each character. Rollin himself appears at the end of the film in a crucial plot enhancer. Its amazing how Rollin was able to find these beautiful abandoned chateaus for his films and in this one , he really utilizes them as characters unto themselves with gorgeous lighting and photography. If you are a Rollin fan, you will recognize many of the actors as they appear and this film holds up much better than the other sexy Euro films which came out in the late sixties/early seventies. Rollin would go on to direct the enjoyable 'BACCHANALES SEXUELLES' , but this one is a great introduction to these types of romps. Redemption releases it here under the Jezebel/Salvation logo and its a nice full screen print but suffers from jerky movements during the transfer when there is excessive camera movement. There is a repeat Rollin interview which is included on the 'LIVING DEAD GIRL' DVD and has a nice still gallery of the actresses during the filming. It's a hell of a lotta fun and should be in every Rollin collection.

Schoolgirl hitchhikers is a good sexploitation film with plenty of nudity. No,it is not a great film if your looking for a cinema masterpiece or something other then an sexploitation film, there are enough plot holes to make swiss cheese. The film is about 2 girls hitchhiking who find what they think is an abandon house. The girls are lesbian lovers who are bissexual. They make love in the house and when the jewel thief who inhabits the house comes back one of the girls makes love with him.In the morning the girls leave and the jewel thief finds the jewels missing. He tracks them down to their tent and kidnaps them which leads to a little S&m session to get the one hitchhiker to talk, the other escapes and goes to a private detective for some reason instead of the cops. They come back to the house, are captured which leads to more sex and another escape. If you like looking at nude, good looking women and a fairly nonsensical plot that moves along briskly,I recommend this movie. Its a fun sexploitation picture .

This is NOT a REVIEW of the film "Schoolgirl Hitchhikers" the content of which has been ably covered by other reviewers I am mostly writing to WARN other potential purchasers of this fine little piece of '70's Euro sexploitation that the quality of the DVD released by 'Desert Island Classics' is VERY POOR!

This is the third product I have purchased that came from Desert Island Classics and the film transfer quality on all of them is bad! They all appear to be hastily produced DVDR products dubbed from low quality old VHS tape sources. The picture is grainy and degraded, often w/ tracking lines showing up periodically. IF this was the only version of the film available these Desert Island debacles might be considered marginally acceptable but (particularly in the case of 'Schoolgirl Hitch-hikers') they just don't cut it and should be avoided. Not only is the transfer quality pathetic, but the play time for the DIC version is only 67 min. while other releases of the same film clock in at closer to 74 min. alluding to some substantial cuts!

I have been very disappointed in the 'quality' of the presentation of all the product I've received from this DVD authoring outfit and really cannot recommend them.

Here's another one of those delicious sexy comedies from the seventies that has been restored to Blu-ray quality, to the satisfaction of us lusty males (and females) who have fond memories of these films. Directed by Jean Rollin (1938-2010), under the name Michel Gentil, one of the masters of the erotic genre, as well as horror movies, "Schoolgirl Hitchhikers" is another delightful entry of classic erotic films that I'm glad came back, as best as ever.

Monica (Joƫlle Coeur) and Jackie (Monica Stark, aka Gilda Arancio) are two free-spirited, young and attractive ladies that "decided to spend the holidays in the great outdoors." While walking through the countryside, they discover an apparently abandoned mansion, and decide to stay the night there. Bad move. As it turns out, the big house is serving as a hideout for a "small-time hood," who "adopts" both ladies. The lucky thief has his fun with Monica and Jackie, who, by the way, are also lovers. Unfortunately, when the owner of the stolen property shows up to the mansion to collect his stuff from the thief, they can't find it, so the gangster blames the girls for the mysterious disappearance of the goods. Enter a private detective and his beautiful assistant, and add more suspense and sexuality to the story.

"Schoolgirl Hitchhikers" is fun to watch, as the characters are silly and having a good time. Of course, this being a French erotic comedy, there's plenty of nudity and soft-core sex. Another jewel of the seventies. (France, 1973, color, 79 min)

This was an okay movie, but better suited as a rental. For me, It was kinda comical in the way it was presented, Everybody kept getting the drop on everybody else. The Director, got the sex out of the way, such as it was, early on and got down to the main focus of the plot. Essentially, two girls picking the wrong place to hangout. When the robbers show up, things get a bit dicey. As I said, it was kind of comical in a way. Although dated, it was enjoyable, but only a one timer in my opinion.

The Chosen One (2010)

The Chosen OneWhat a great movie!

Down-on-his-luck Paul (Rob Schneider) has nothing to live for...his wife left him, his boss hates him, his father committed suicide, his mother (Holland Taylor) and brother (a strange but fairly amiable Steve Buscemi) are nothing more than nuisances, and alcohol consumes him. But when a beautiful South American woman and three shaman arrive on his doorstep, his life takes a drastic turn.

Advertised as a comedy, "The Chosen One" shouldn't be labeled solely as such. There are heartfelt moments, times of trial, instances of soul searching, and life lessons to be had throughout. It is more of a character study than a comedy and one in the vein of subtle drama with light-hearted humor sprinkled in for relief.

Rob Schneider has always been number one in my book. His approach isn't for everybody, but his heart is always in the right place, and his humor, while sometimes silly, is very palatable. "The Chosen One," which Rob also co-wrote and co-produced, is an exceptional movie with great acting and a very touching and moving story. If you harness and carry the understanding of compassion within your being, you will love this movie.

I rented this movie from Blockbuster and was expecting a comedy, as labeled on the box.

Surprisingly, it's more of a drama, than a comedy. However, the story is surprisingly heart warming and feel good.

It may take multiple viewings to really appreciate this film.

Rob Schneider does a fantastic job acting in this film, far beyond the comedic roles he's known for.

In a way this reminds me of LA Story, another movie set in LA with surprisingly great story and acting.

This is not your typical Hollywood movie, and that is a good thing. If you're in for something a little different, and genuine from a human perspective, this movie will be well worth the time to watch. And you may watch it again several times to enjoy all the subtle themes in the story.

I read alot of reviews on another forum that had alot of mixed reviews for this movie. I am not surprised that there is not a huge write up about it as it somewhat leaves Shneiders normal "quirky" rolls for a bit more serious tone. Not so much that we dont get to enjoy alot of his normal antics. A man does the right thing in the end with the aid of alot of great character support. I really enjoyed it much more than expected based, as I said, on other reviews. Really a cute, sometimes funny show. L 2/10/11

41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall (2010)

41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah MarshallFor the love of God please let this be the last of the "Spoofing Other, Better Movies" Movies, because this is absolutely the bottom of the barrel. For starters, somehow the people that made this movie failed to see that if any of those other spoof movies were actually any good, it was because they were making fun of movies that weren't already funny i.e. satire. Making a comedy making fun of other comedies is just a stupid idea, and this movie is proof of that theory.

The acting is as bad as the writing crap, crap, and more crap.

For the sake of us all, don't buy this movie you'll only encourage them to make more and they aren't worth the plastic they're printed on.

Let me preface this by saying I love most of the source material, laugh until liver pain during most Apatow movies, and think the spoof genre is hilarious (Leslie Nielsen is a god among men). With that said, the title is the movie and it's completely underwhelming. Former MADtv contributor Bryan Callen is the protagonist of an excruciatingly long and lame movie that poorly attempts to lampoon comedies that are infinitely funnier than this "comedy."

The lineup of spoofed films is as follows (I admit I may have missed a few during my boredom coma):

-40 Year Old Virgin

-Knocked Up

-Forgetting Sarah Marshall

-Superbad (changing McLovin's name to McAnalovin is juvenile, but funny)

-Funny People

-Twilight

-Slumdog Millionaire

-The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

There were only two parts of the movie I actually enjoyed. First is a remake of the Dos Equis commercial with "The Most Interesting Man in the World." Funny stuff. The second is during the credits when they take a shot at the Verizon "Can you hear me now" commercials, which caused me to laugh out loud...something that didn't happen much during the actual movie.

The supporting actors are actually the best part of this film. Callen gets completely overshadowed by Steven Sims, who may as well be a Jonah Hill surrogate, by Austin Michael Scott, who did his McLovin impersonation once before in Disaster Movie, and by a brilliant performance by Stephen Kramer Glickman, who absolutely nails the Seth Rogan impersonation. (Unrelated: Glickman got a big break by coming on stage during a Jeffrey Ross standup routine)

Among the many problems with this movie is the simple fact that it's not funny, and I'm nearly the exact target audience. It's not the material. It's the execution...to which I'll add, I'm in favor of it.

"The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It" was written and directed by Craig Moss. It stars Bryan Callen, formerly of MADtv as Andy who is a virgin and goes through elements of the plot lines from "40 Year Old Virgin", "Superbad", "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", "Knocked Up", and even a bit from "Funny People." Andy after being accosted by his friends and after a date falls through with a girl he connected with named Kim (Noureen DeWulf) repeatedly meets up with Sarah (Mircea Monroe) at a bar where she gets really drunk celebrating and comes home with him after much projectile vomit. Sarah comes back the next day pregnant, but it isn't Andy's baby. Also a Jonah Hill look-alike (Steven Sims) is running around and McAnalovin (Austin Michael Scott) is stuck with a couple of crazy cops.

Besides Judd Apatow flicks, some other movies alluded to in this spoof are "Slumdog Millionaire" (McAnalovin has to jump into poo and the film finishes up with a "She's a Ho" instead of "Jai Ho" dance number), "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", Verizon Wireless ("Can you hear me now?"), and the Most Interesting Man Beer commercials.

As far as spoof comedy goes, at least the story flows ok. Sometimes spoofs are just stories and sometimes they are just minor skits loosely stuck together and this one does blend both of those formats well to incorporate outside the genre jokes as well as this tribute to Judd Apatow's brand of romantic comedy. Everything about it is extreme and gross-out humor, swearing, and sexual humor abounds. Very silly, but better than some of the stretched out spoof films out there like "Date Movie" or any "Scary Movie" after the first one. Some of the humor is REALLY nasty, but there is an audience out there for it that would like it. It went a little too far for me at times, but overall I find a lot of it to be funny.

Bonus Features:

There is a fourteen minute long making of the movie where they talk about getting a choreographer for the Ballywood sequence and that the director's wife is one of the Krämer twins in the film among other tidbits of information.

Business of Gags talks about how certain props were found and made like Andy's dong and chastity belt. Also you'll get to see McAnalovin get pelted with Diet Coke from a hose and the hair waxing gag. You'll learn the recipe to practical puke versus puke from a cannon.

Being Jonah Hill is an interesting little clip about how they found Steven Sims on YouTube after having a lot of difficulty finding a lookalike in his short film about being mistaken for Jonah Hill. Bryan Callen: Internet Sex Diety is about Callen's career on MADtv where he wore a leopard thong as Pool Boy and generated a lot of fan mail from jails.

There is a featurette about getting the movie made where the guys attempted to just pitch the title without a script. Then they decided to film a trailer for it with their friends (still with no script) and brought that to the pitch hoping it would get picked up and that eventually worked and you can see the trailer on this DVD.

I'm going to go ahead and give a completely uneducated review on this movie since it's just not worth spending too much time reviewing. It sucks. Bryan Callen is the only reason I watched the whole thing. Seriously, a parody is supposed to be funnier or at the very least as funny as the original. This is one of those movies that will be on Comedy Central every Saturday at two in the morning for a month or so and then fade into obscurity. The formula for comedy is ridiculous in this movie. They basically take a funny moment from an original Apatow movie and turn it into an extreme, over the top, ridiculous moment. It doesn't work. I sat down watching this movie thinking that it must have some shred of originality or else it would have never been made, right? Wrong. I want to write so much more and give a million examples of why this movie sucks, but like I said, it's not worth my effort. By the way, I don't want to discourage anybody from watching this. You can all learn the hard way like I did. It sucks.

I thought this movie had some very funny moments, but others were gross and annoying. One part I loved was that it spoofed Twilight, because I can't stand Twilight. Bryan Callen stars as Andy, a 41 year old who really wants to lose his virginity. His friends from the movies Superbad, Knocked Up, and Benjamin Button try to help him along the way. He meets Sarah at a bar, and she thinks that Andy is her baby's daddy after a 1 night stand. Andy begins to fall in love with another woman named Kim. Who will he choose?
