Umm i just love the way these films are presented in widescreen the way they were meant to be seen and both films are on one DVD but it's not double sided thank goodness. there is alittle dirt at beginning of Wayne's World that being the paramount logo at the beginning. but other than that it fine actually it looks good for it's age, being made in the 90's and it's been enhanced for16:9 widescreen tv's. it would've been nice if there were extras on this disc, but hey with bargain price like this, i can't really complain. so if you don't mind not have any extras(goodies) and just want the films, then this barebones DVD is for you.

Wayne's World the first movie is just way funny the second is good but nowhere near funny as the original. but is an interesting film anyway and fun to watch. Oh the sound you have the option of english dolby 5.1 or 2.0 surround sound the french soundtrack is in 2.0 and they're only english subtitles on both films.

Highly Recommended for a good laugh.

The Films Are Both PG-13 For language and some sexual humor.

Down To You (2000)

Down To You... and I ended up being pleasantly surprised.

Back when this film was first released, I was forced into seeing it with a female family member. I expected the worst. It had Freddie Prinze, Jr. in it. The commercials for it seemed to imply that it was geared towards the teen set. I really wasn't expecting to like this film. Boy, was I surprised!

This film ended up becoming one of my favorite romantic comedies. The story itself, about the evolving of Alfred and Imogen's relationship, was so well written and unpredictable. It wasn't one of those films where you could predict each plot twist twenty minutes before it happened.

The cast is above par for movies of this genre. Stiles and Prinze do a good job in their lead roles. Selma Blair and the actor who played Alfred's "artsy-fartsy" porn actor friend were also entertaining. Film and TV legend Henry Winkler added a lot of gusto to the film in the supporting role of Alfred's Emeril-esque dad as well.

Guys, if you want a good date movie to watch with your girlfriend that won't leave you squirming, this is the one to get. I highly recommend it!

Down to You didn't last long in the movie theaters, and I was surprised to see it on the shelves at the video stores. The main reason why I saw it was because of Julie Stiles, who I thought was good in 10 Things I Hate About You. I didn't want to see it at first, because I can't stand Freddie Prinze Jr! I thought I'd give it a shot because Julie was in it, and I enjoy watching high school type movies. This wasn't your typical high school movie though. It was more towards the late teens/early twenties crowd. Julie plays Imogen, a Freshman at the local college that's studying to be an Artist. Freddie plays Al, also a student at the college, that wants to be a world famous chef, like his father (played by Henry Winkler). Al's father has his own cooking show on TV (just think Emeril Lagasse). His father has plans for him and Al to have their own father-son show, but Al wants to work his way from the bottom up. The main focus of the movie was concentrated on Imogen and Al's relationship of course. The movie has some great characters in it, like Al's father, his best friend that's in the porn industry, and a wanna be Jim Morrison. I thought the story was good, and the directing as well. I liked how both Al and Imogen were both telling the story. The only part that I didn't like about the movie was when Imogen ruined their relationship by......well not to spoil it for you, but you should watch it. This is a good date movie, and should make your date cry!

It was set out to be aimed at 13 year old girls but somehow it got a wider audience. Most teen movies take place when the stars are in high school but this taked place when they are in college. This movie shows that not all relationships are fairy tales. The theme is giving first love a second chance and while it does give audiences a dose of reality it does seem to give a little too much information sometimes. Julia Stiles is smart in her career choice because while she does movies aimed at teens her films are somehow more serious but at the same time fun. This film deals with heavy issues but it doesn't let you know that it's getting you to think about certain things like teen pregnancy, drug overdose....and so on and so forth. If you are a fan of Julia Stiles or Freddie Prinze, Jr. then I recommend this movie. It's not your typical run-of-the-mill teen flick. But beware guys, this is a chick flick!

This is the perfect romance film to watch as a couple, to remember your first love and reminisce about the good and the bad times. It starts off with Freddie Prinz Jnr (Al) and Julia Stiles (Imogen) narrating between flashbacks.

Julia Stiles is one of the best young actresses of the moment, and her & Freddie Prinz Jnr make a great couple. Selma Blair, Shawn Hatosy and Zak Orth also star, along with a permanently stoned Ashton Kutcher, who apparently looks like Jim Morrison from The Doors.

The scene where Imogen sings/dances to Al is the best, and it shows what the whole film is about despite the fact that Al gets embarrassed as he's a sophomore dating a freshman.

Imogen & Al are very different people and show that opposites can attract. She likes painting and he likes to cook. Al's friends aren't happy that Al & Imogen are practically turning into an old married couple before their eyes, already having a pregnancy scare barely a year into their relationship. You know this relationship is doomed from the start of the film, due to them being different & pressure from their friends.

The narration between the flashback scenes does break the film up, and the first time I watched this film, it really annoyed me, but it also shows the film from Al & Imogen's point of view.

There's a classic line in this, which is Imogen's fear: "One day we'll pass each other on the street and have that artificial conversation".

The ending is great, and the Billie Myers song sums up the whole film.

This film is a must-see for Julia Stiles/Freddie Prinz Jnr fans, or to see as a couple, or to watch alone, simply to reminisce and not get embarrassed when you start crying.

Extras include the theatrical trailer; TV spots; cast & crew interviews; on the set; and Billie Myer's "It All Comes Down To You" music video.

In my opinion, I have to say that this teen comedy was, well,DIFFERENT than the rest. But I mean that in a very very good way. Why? The story is not the type of teen movie that you can just predict every moment in the story. It was edgier and bubblier than any other High School-type teen comedy. The story takes place in college, which I find more entertaining than an average High School movie. The first half hour of the movie was kind of strange to me.I mean, a roommate that is a porno movie director and a dad who is a famous cook( played by Henry Winkler) is not your usual dialogue in this kind of movie. Which made me love this even more! I am crazy about romantic comedies and this is BY FAR(so far) the best one I have seen. After you get introduced to the Very Different characters, you find that this movie is incredibly well-written and really sweet and entertaining. i also happened to laugh a lot more than a typical teen comedy. Julia Stiles is my fave actress and Freddie is probably one of the most talented, HOTTEST men on this planet(this was the reason, in the first place, why i watched this movie).Even my boyfriend loved it(and believe me, thats pretty amazing). It has a great soundtrack, too. To summarize my opinion: A funny, sexy, romantic, and edgy must-see movie for almost anyone.(i cant stop watching it) If you like Freddie, I also recommend Boys and Girls.

Zazie dans le metro (The Criterion Collection) (1960)

Zazie dans le metroA girl is left with her uncle for the weekend (or a day, I think) while Mom runs off with her new boyfriend. She has one wish while she's there...to ride the Metro train...which, naturally, is on strike.

Wackiness ensues.

Shot largely as if it were a slapstick silent film, this is one wacky, odd romp around Paris. The Eiffel tower scenes are surely one-of-a-kind and worth the price of admission alone.

You won't really find yourself laughing a lot so much as just marveling at the spectacle of the thing.

First saw Zazie years ago and remembered I'd loved it. So I was thrilled to see that it was coming out in a Criterion release. The film was as crazy and colorful as I remember it. All potty-mouthed Zazie wants to do while visiting her uncle in Paris is to ride the metro. Unfortunately it's closed due to a worker's strike. Still there are plenty of other adventures to be had and lots of colorful characters to have them with. Zazie is a real gem and I highly recommend it. The Criterion DVD is what one expects: outstanding and with great extras.

You often hear about novels that are not possible for a film adaptation. And for author Raymond Queneau's successful 1959 novel "Zazie dans le métro", who can portray a novel about a young girl who knows way too much for her age and is so inquisitive, but yet her perspective of the absurdity of adult Parisians?

Never to back down from a challenge, French filmmaker Louise Malle known for his popular films "The Lovers" and "Elevators to the Gallows" took on a film adaptation of "Zazie dans le métro". A film which Malle would say it was a tribute to Charlie Chaplin and also a film that would lead to film experimentation with special effects and colorization.

And as for the film, the film would receive critical acclaim but also controversy as many parents thought the film was targeted towards children, and took their children to the film to find out quickly when the young 10-year-old Zazie speaks that the film is not for children.

For Louis Malle fans, many have wanted more of his films to be released by the Criterion Collection and sure enough, "Zazie dans le métro" and "Black Moon" will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in June 2011.

"Zazie dans le métro" is a film that is not easy to describe, because it is a film that has to be experienced visually. Words to describe the film would not serve the film any justice because the enjoyment goes bar beyond the written words but what takes place on screen.

VIDEO:

"Zazie dans le métro The Criterion Collection #570' is presented in 1:33:1 aspect ratio. It's important to note that the film was a big experimentation with color and filmmaking, especially special effects at that time. The film uses quite a bit of experimentation of color, unusual cuts, sped up film, etc. But for the most part, considering the film is 50-years-old, it looks great on Blu-ray!

I was actually pleased with the amount of detail, especially since this film has a vast color palette and a lot of outdoor scenes, colors are vibrant, skin tones are natural and brighter colors, especially the reds, really pop! I didn't notice any banding or edge enhancement. Nor did I see any artifacts. I did notice at some points of film damage but they were quite brief and limited to a certain area for a few seconds. But "Zazie dans le métro" looks great on Blu-ray!

According to the Criterion Collection, this new HD digital transfer was created on a Spirit Datacine from a 35 mm interpositive, thousands of instances of dirt, debris, scratches, splices, warps, jitter and flicker were manually removed using MTI's DRS system, while Digital Vision's DVNR system was used for small dirt, grain and noise reduction.

AUDIO & SUBTITLES:

"Zazie dans le métro The Criterion Collection #570' is presented in monaural French with English subtitles. Dialogue is clear and I detected no hissing, clicks or any audio problems at all.

According to the Criterion Collection, the monaural soundtrack was remastered at 24-bit from the positive print soundtrack. Clicks, thumps, hiss and hum were manually removed using Pro Tools HD. Crackle was attenuated using AudioCube's integrated workstation.

JUDGMENT CALL:

"Zazie dans le métro" is one of those films that one can't describe because it was meant to be seen visually.

One can be described is that this 1960 film was surprising in many levels because it featured a young girl with a mouth that would surprise people because she talks about sexuality, dirty men, homosexuality so openly and doesn't relent. Like many children who are inquisitive and keep asking questions, in "Zazie dans le métro", the questions are blunt. "Are you a homosexual?", "Are you sexually repressed?", "Are you a dirty man that goes after young girls?", etc.

Zazie is a product of her upbringing and its a statement of Paris culture back then that filmmaker Louis Malle wanted to tackle, that is a comedy that showcases the absurdity and chaotic nature of Parisians at the time.

And while Zazie and the absurdity of the adult characters is a big part of the story that can be described, its what takes place in the film that can not.

In one scene, when Zazie is trying to hide and escape from a man who spends his money buying her mussels, fries and blue jeans, the chase scene resembles one of those quick-paced hilarious Benny Hill skits. Characters looking like they are running quickly while the camera focuses on their face, but then the camera goes through several jump cuts, speeds up quickly, reverts back to normal.

In some scenes, there is a little trickery as one conversation between two men, Malle quickly changes one scene with the man in black face for a quick second and very few frames.

And while this style is funny at first, it does become a little tiring but it's all about how Malle manages to make things darker as the film progresses, that becomes quite intriguing.

Also, the look and feel of the film is rather interesting as well. In the special features, you learn that advertising screens were utilized to block out things that Malle didn't want to be shown in the film and so while Zazie is running or walking, you will notice these artistic walls behind her.

Possibly one of the most jarring shots and something that you will never ever see in a film again, is the shot of actor Philippe Noiret (Uncle Gabriel) doing these close to the edge, about to fall off high above the Eiffel Tower. In fact, one scene shows Noiret on top of an elevator rising up on the tower. It's amazing how these shots were done, especially the freedom that was given to the filmmakers to shoot those scenes but anyone who is acrophobic, even for me, those shots made feel a bit uneasy because those playful shots made you feel that he could fall off the Eiffel Tower any minute.

But the efficacy of "Zazie dans le métro" lies within its structure and how different it was from the Nouvelle Vague films at that time. Speaking of the French New Wave, even Zazie has some words to say about it during the film.

While I have not read the novel "Zazie dans le métro", I do know that author Raymond Queneau was quite appreciative of the film adaptation and even Charlie Chaplin who Malle has dedicated the film to, watched the film in French no subtitles and enjoyed it.

The Blu-ray release of "Zazie dans le métro" features a good number of special features but probably the one that I found to be quite intriguing was Phillipe Collin revisiting the locations in 2005 and talking about how the shots were done. But also to see the interview with young Catherine Demongeut from 1960 as the journalists wonder if she is anything like her character and grilling her parents on playing such a part. I found it pretty cool to see the parents calm and collected, especially Catherine while the journalists were really trying to make them frustrated or angry.

While watching "Zazie dans le métro", I often wondered how both Louis Malle even Raymond Queneau would feel about how society is today, especially for Malle who wanted to take on the absurdity of adults in Paris at the time. And as for Zazie, it made me wonder how much worse children are today as the words coming out of Zazie's mouth was considered dirty, once again, if only Malle, Queneau and society then would see how children, a product of the way they were raised, are learning some things a bit too quickly than they should have at a younger age.

But put yourself in the viewers shoes back in 1960 and you can see how this film could be seen as artistic, controversial, hilarious, enjoyable, absurd, chaotic, you name it... there are many words to describe this film and for me, I found it to be entertaining, fun and one of those films where a filmmaker does something different and unique and comedic but yet is able to make a statement on society.

"Zazie dans le métro" is a film that many Louis Malle fans have been waiting for and now it's here! This Blu-ray release is recommended!

I'm not quite sure whether I like this film or not. I either loved it or I hated it ... it says something about the power of the film that I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

What starts as a very realistic look at Paris through the eyes of a 10-year-old girl gradually slips into impressionism and finally into surrealism (the final fight in the restaurant). The more I think about it, I think Malle's absurdities work very well during the various chase sequences, but go a bit over the top during the restaurant fight.

What also struck me was the sexual ambiguity of the characters. Zazie's uncle is, of course, a professional female impersonator. But watch her aunt, a beautiful woman who starts out as a very domesticed housewife and gradually becomes more and more masculine, until at the end, she looks like one of the motorcycle thugs pursuing Orpheus. And Zazie herself begins as a charming young girl, but shocks you when she accuses a man trying to prevent her from running away of being a sexual preditor. Later, as she descends the Eiffel Tower, the makes sexual overtures to a much older man.

As I say, a strange film. Funny. Thought provoking and disorienting. But entertaining ...

Spark of Insanity (2007)

Spark of InsanitySpark of Insanity was far funnier than any previous shows in Which I have seen Jeff Dunham and his puppets. Contrary to the one negative opinion I have read about the performance, I didn't have to gauge the reactions of audience members to know when it was time to laugh. It was very funny, and I must say that his tackling an issue, such as terrorism, with comedy, was funnier than I would have even thought it would be. Dunham is a very talented ventriloquist, with a fine sense of comedic timing. I feel sorry for anyone who can't get a laugh out Spark of Insanity, their sense of humor is irreparably broken. Buy it, see it, enjoy it!

Okay, so I don't get around much; I don't watch Comedy Central; and I had never heard of Jeff Dunham. And up until a few days ago I thought of ventriloquism as about as hokey as middle school hootenanny; but then I was given Dunham's SPARK OF INSANITY as a Yuletide present (by my highly signficant other). . .

I am a changed curmudgeon.

Ladies and gents, this is funny, funny stuff, and I'm not talking about chuckling funny--I'm talking about rolling on the floor funny. Dunham and his "suitcase posse" of colorful characters (and an old curmudgeon like me sure appreciates Walter) tackle a plethora of topics--many of them devoutly controversial. But Dunham (and friends) gets away with controversy, because everything is fair game and no one is spared. Heck, forget the puppets; Dunham's opening monologue is hysterical.

When a comedian can make his audience forget their troubles and just enjoy the entertainment for its own sake, said comedian has achieved pure comedic bliss. And Jeff Dunham does just that; SPARK OF INSANITY is well worth the viewing, time and time again.

I've been a fan of Jeff and company since high school. I remember seeing him on "An Evening at the Improv" which aired on A&E and on another comedy program that aired on VH1; I would tape these segments then make my friends watch them. They became fans of Jeff and Peanut, too.

I thought this DVD was funnier than the "Arguing with Myself" one. I loved the Dead Terrorist. This program aired on Comedy Central and the DVD features some additional footage that didn't appear on Comedy Central. The bonus features on the DVD are great. It was interesting to see the development of Melvin, and Walter's "announcement" was fabulous. This DVD is a must have for any fan of Jeff and gang.

My husband and I just saw Jeff's show this past Saturday in Mass. It was fantastic! Achmed the Dead Terrorist is hysterical! He goes right to the edge with a politically sensitive subject. And, of course, Walter, Peanut, and Jose are just as great as ever. We have his first DVD and are always showing it to people who haven't been indoctrinated. No matter how many times we see it, we laugh just as hard as the first time. We are looking forward to this new DVD to have in our house when we need a Jeff 'fix'.

10 (2011)

10In 10, Dudley Moore gives a five star performance on two fronts as both a comic and music genius. Film fans may be unaware that Moore scored several films and performed as a concert pianist in his career in addition to his acting talents.

Moore plays a fortyish songwriter who has developed the mother of all mid-life crisis's. Julie Andrews (who looks fantastic here BTW) shines as his impatient love interest and Bo Derek is lovely as Dudley's fantasy girl. Brian Dennehy and Dee Wallace-Stone are very good in supporting roles.

The DVD transfer is good especially for a film that has a little age. The sound is mono only which is disappointing but understandable. This is one of Blake Edwards best films and a must see for fans of romantic comedy. It is sad and sobering to realize that both Moore's and Andrew's gifts have been diminished by illness. Grab this DVD and take time to remember how really talented they both are.

Dudley Moore plays a fellow by the name of George Webber. Webber is a wealthy, accomplished & respected musician who has a great many friends and admirers. There is one problem. He is in his 40s and begins to experience his mid-life crisis. He is restless & bored with life. Although settling in to middle age, he finds that he is still attracted to women in their 20s (a "problem" that I myself experience).

By chance, he spies a beautiful young woman (played by Bo Derek) who is on her way to her wedding. She is the most gorgeous creature he has ever seen and he immediately becomes obsessed with her. This obsession leads to a great many mis-adventures that lead the viewer through the balance of the film.

While it is not apparent on the surface, I would characterize 10 as a dark comedy. It is somewhat morose to think about getting older and no longer being young & vibrant. The creative ways in which the film differentiates Moore's character from the young lover of Bo Derek's persona are almost creepy.

Aside from the tragic loss of youth, the film is also a commentary on the issue of people's personalities not matching their exterior appearance. While she is beautiful, Bo Derek's character is found to be quit wanting on the personality side of the ledger. She is shallow and superficial. Insofar as being a worthwhile person, she can hardly compete with George's girlfriend (portrayed by Julie Andrews).

Of all of Blake Edward's films, this one is probably in the top 5. It is insightful into what troubles we human beings as we grapple with your mortality and the decline of our bodies. On the upside, there is also some gratuitous nudity, although they could have shown a LOT more of Bo Derek. If Amazon had a 10 star rating, I would give this one a 9!

Buy 10 (2011) Now

This is a magnificent comedy about a male in a mid-life crisis who sees a beautiful women and becomes infatuated. Bo Derek made a career of this movie. No acting skills at all but her desirous beauty alone makes her perfect for the role. And Dudley Moore? This is movie also made his career. In a supporting role, Brian Dennehy starts his career with a great role as a bartender. Also, my kudos to Blake Edwards.

Probably most under-appriciated is the magnificent score, particularly the songs of his lust and yearning for Bo Derek. But it's never as real in real life and Moore finds this out. Anyone married for 5 years who hasn't seen this movie should curl up for an afternoon with this on the tube. It's a classic of marriage, love, and life in Los Angeles.

Blake Edward's film "10" is probably among one of the funniest movies to come out of the 1970's.It is both a celebration and condemnation of the sexual antics (post pill/pre-aids)of our society during the "Me Decade".In the story, Dudley Moore (in one of his best roles)plays George Webber, a Burt Bachrach style composer, who seems to have everything including wealth, fame, talent and a wonderful girlfriend (marvelously played by Julie Andrews). Unfortunately George has just celebrated his 42nd birthday and is having a huge mid-life crisis. He does this by fixating on a just married beauty(played by the ravishing Bo Derek)who is the "10" of the film's title.George, hilariously chases her down to a Mexican vacation resort, where he learns the lesson, that one must be careful, what one wishes for.The "10" might be a beautiful girl, but she is ultimately an empty person, who lives for nothing more then self-gratification. This is a really funny movie farce that seems to give us a little of everything. The scenes of physical slapstick probably can only be rivaled by Blake's own "Pink Panther" movies. The dialogue is witty and delivered with the best of comic timing. But what ultimately makes this movie is the performances by Dudley Moore and Julie Andrews. Both actors play their characters with both heart and emotion. These two have such a wonderful chemistry together (even when they are fighting) that you wonder how Moore's character can even have such an idiotic mid-life crisis. Finally, I must mention the movie's funniest scene and it's use use of Ravel's 'Bolero'. In the scene, Moore tries to seduce the beautiful Derek, who infuriatingly insists, that he keep re-starting the "mood music". Never has a piece of classical music been put to such comic effect. It led to the real life '70s fad of using 'Bolero'as "make-out music". This is a really a funny movie that will provide you with a great night of comic entertainment.

One of the best all-time real life comedies. They don't make em like this anymore. Bo Derek is amazing, Dudley Moore is brilliant. This is one of the five best movies I've ever seen. If you like rock-em sock-em far fetched explosion's and car chases, move on. This is a realistic, well written, well acted, real life story of a middle aged man going through mid-life crisis. It's not a male bashing or female demeaning movie. It's a good realistic story about some really interesting people going through what most people go through at some point in time. The movie came out around 1980 but you don't get the sense that your watching an old movie when your watching it. It's timeless. One of those movies you will watch more than a couple of times over the years.

Pyaar Impossible (2009)

Pyaar ImpossibleI've always regarded Uday Chopra as a second hand leading man, but I may have to rethink things because of this movie, and maybe Uday's being so likable in this one is due partly to his having done the writing and producing along with the acting. But there's a lot of wish fulfillment in PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE! if you ever were a nerd or if you've ever yearned for that special someone who never even glanced at you one time. Slackers like me, we dig movies like this. Even vanity projects like this.

Pity the poor unassuming nerd. Uday Chopra plays bespectacled college loser Abhay Sharma and he's deeply smitten with the beautiful Alisha (Priyanka Chopra, no relations, thank god). But the social status quo the way it is, Abhay never stood a chance. Didn't even matter that he saved her life one evening. She just never noticed him. And then she left college.

It's seven years later now, and Abhay still pines for Alisha, but he's moved on, sort of. A computer whiz, Abhay has over the past seven years been working on a revolutionary software and he's at last perfected it. But, in the midst of pitching his product to a prospective investor, his software is stolen. A distraught Abhay tracks the thief down to Singapore, where out of the blue, on the street, he sees... well, you can guess...

PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE! ("Love Impossible") is a romantic comedy that shouldn't really work, but does. The story is contrived, the situations are formulaic, I saw every plot twist coming, and it didn't matter. I still liked this movie a lot. With not much being original nowadays, it all falls on execution and the appeal of the actors. And this film benefits from slick direction and a very likable cast. Priyanka Chopra, who was amazing in WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE?, has become a fine comedienne and she turns in another marvelous performance, seamlessly segueing from college party girl to responsible single working mother. The precocious and very adorable little girl, Advika Yadav, makes her debut and she is a born scene-stealer. And Uday Chopra comes across as so damn nice and sweet. His Abhay Sharma quietly dreams his big romantic dreams, way out of his league, and it's really hard to hate on him. It'd be like kicking a puppy. I wish, though, that Uday had pulled out more from his repertoire of expressions than just that one persistent goofily smiling, half-dazed look.

I liked the musical numbers "Alisha," "10 on 10," "Pyaar Impossible," "Ek Thi Ladki (bada bada boom)," and "You & Me" pretty much all the tracks are breezy and hummable. There are some really good laughs in this one, the best being the utterly sidesplitting "Thai tradition" scene and those moments when Abhay demonstrates his questionable nanny/housekeeping skills. You've got Abhay assuming a double life and then a triple life, and he's got his work cut out for him as he tries to keep this and that identity secret from various people. There's the corporate theft sub-plot and a dash of caper intrigue as Abhay tries to get back what's his. Mostly, though, it's about the unrequited love story and the comedy. Fine with me. It's nice to find out that, once all is said and done, pyaar is not impossible after all...

This is a great film on several levels.

First, unlike many recent American films one gains the distinct impression that the screenwriters knew where the story was going before they started writing. As a result the film was a consistent coherent whole that made sense and was connected throughout. While the plot was predictable in had enough extra charm and humor to make it a non-issue. Some of the "Hindified" contractions in the subtitles added to the charm.

Second, partly as as result of the first characteristic, it was very warm and entertaining without sweating bodies rolling around in random beds to distract the viewer from the fact the writers of too many modern films are totally artless. Parents won't have to hit the pause or stop button if the kids should happen to walk into the room.

The of course there are those of us who can identify with Abhay's position and plight as a rather nerdy guy, who despite acceptable or better intellect, compassion, ability and capacity to love, are possessed of "odd facial features" as an other reviewer so coldly puts it. As such a one, blessed to have amazingly won the love of a fantastic beautiful woman, I can joyfully confess that such things can happen in the real world.

A great, wholesome film!

This 2010 Bollywood treat is my favorite foreign film. "Pyaar" means "love" and love does seem impossible for a computer geek (Uday Chopra) who has eyes only for the popular girl ( the lovely Priyanka Chopra) who doesn't even know he exists. Years later, through fate and a case of mistaken identity, the geek becomes the male nanny for his secret crush's little girl. This movie offers a buffet of movie genres; romance, comedy and drama. It's also a musical with such fun, catchy tunes as "Ten On Ten" and "Oopsy Doodle." I highly recommend it.

I first saw this movie on Netflix. I was so impressed that I bought it on Blue Ray.

This is probably the best Romantic Musical Comedy that I have ever seen.

For the most part the film is in Hindi but there is a lot of english dialog in it.

All five music videos are fantastic. Any of them would become a top 10 hit if it had exposure. I find myself singing them in the car.

Blue Ray video and soundtrack quality is excellent.

What can I say?

This film is a sleeper.

I love this film.

I relate to this movie so much, it's kinda sad actually. But Abhay Sharma (Uday Chopra) was the biggest pushover I've ever seen. I was frustrated at times when Abhay was acting like a complete geekazoid and not growing a pair to confront the one he loves, or the one whole stole his million-dollar idea. But excluding this, every part of this movie was perfect, and very enjoyable. The "Thai Tradition" part was kinda wacky and I didn't like it as much as some might, but it was very entertaining. Priyanka Chopra is a goddess as Alisha, and there is nothing else really I can say about her. Her young daughter, played by Advika Yadav, was annoying at times, but was very good in her part and even becomes very like-able towards the end.

I love this movie because I can really relate to it, and it's your standard beauty and the geek movie. Topped with Priyanka Chopra, you cannot go wrong. Watch it already!

Friday (Director's Cut) (2009)

Fridaythis movie had what the sequels missed out on, smokey. he pretty much made the first movie. such memorable lines in this movie at such quantities, it's hard not to like it. "how do you get fired on your day off?" "what you stealin boxes for, you tryin to build a clubhouse?" i have seen this movie at least 100 times and still never grow tired of it. whenever i can't think of anything else to watch, friday creeps up and inserts itself into the dvd player. great great movie.

of course deebo was a great villian. there is allways that big @ss thug that wants to prove that noone can step up to him. what a better person to play that role then tom 'tiny' lister jr. maybe that guy from the green mile. chris tucker was absolutely amazing as a pothead. i don't think anyone could have pulled that role off better then him. ice cube did a great job as craig and i don't know who played as mrs. parker, but she did a good job too. then you have the corrupt preacher played by bernie mac. hillarious movie from beginning to end especially when they did the flashback scenes with smokey taking a hit of angel dust and finding himself in deebos chicken coop.

this movie had one of the best soundtracks ever put together. everything from ice cube and cypress hill to rick james and 2 live crew. best placement in the movie for the soundtrack had to be when craigs girlfriend got out of the car all pissed off and hoochie mamma was playing in the background. the best hood classic ever.

This is THE funniest comedy I have ever seen. I agree with another reviewer: I can watch this movie a million times and never tire of it. It gets funnier and funnier each time.

Tucker stole the show as Smokey, who sells pot but who also smokes it and it's that love that causes him trouble in the middle of the film. But it's his lines and his mannerisms as Smokey that make him hilarious.

One of my favorite parts is where Rita pulls up to meet Smokey for a blind date. Rita, who said she looked like Janet Jackson but weighed a good 250 pounds says lustfully, "Ooo, what's up?" The expression on Tucker's face made me cry, I was laughing so hard: It immediately dropped as he gets an eyeful of her and says, "Not a damn thing!"

The movie is chock full of goodies. The delivery of the script is what makes this movie and everyone was cast perfectly for their parts.

Sequels were unnecessary because this stands out by itself.

The original Friday is a classic. The extra footage and material still bring new laughs to this viewer. Wish they would have added a copy of the original theatre release as well.

Needless to say this movie is a classic!!! I saw the movie was released on Bluray and bought it spontaneously. The transfer isn't as good as I hoped and I barely consider it an upgrade from the DVD. If you already own the DVD, then I'd recommend just saving your money.
